Music at Trinity

"Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.

Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody."

- Psalm 98:4-5

The music program at Trinity Church is one steeped in tradition with an eye to the future. In addition to the liturgical needs of the parish, the music program hosts a successful concert series and has a reputation in the community of presenting high quality musical offerings.

Moving the organ console back into the church!

Reconnecting Trinity's beautiful organ console upon its return.

The rebuilt, reconditioned keyboard is in "like new" contition.

Some interesting facts about the console...

* Built in 1948, originally built for St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia.

* Console moved to Trinity in 1969.

* Trinity has decided to rebuild it because the Skinner Consoles are among the most elegant in 20th century American organbuilding.

* It is about 600 pounds and includes solid oak cabinetry, French-poloished mahogany stopjambs, and ivory hardware fot the keys and stopdobs.

* Took 6 men to move it out of the church.

Upcoming Musical Offerings

Musical offerings will be posted as they are announced.

The Choir

The Senior Choir meets each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

The Choir has long been an integral part of the worship life at Trinity and maintains an active and rigorous schedule. The 30-member choir boasts a large repertoire, preparing one or two anthems each week and sings Anglican Chant. In addition to Sunday morning services the choir offers music for:

- Advent Lessons & Carols
- Palm Sunday Musical Offering
- Ascension Day Evensong
- Vespers and Compline

In addition to the Senior Choir, Trinity has a Children’s Choir that offers special music for Christmas and Easter. As the music program continues to grow so too will the Children’s Choir

The Choirs are open to all parishioners who feel a call to music ministry. Auditions are not required, however, it is expected that singers be able to match pitch and attend weekly rehearsals. The Senior Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 during the academic year.

The Organ (taken from "In the Spirit of Tradition" pamphlet)

Recognized as an invaluable part of Vermont's cultural heritage, our pipe organ is also fundamental to Trinity's and Rutland's history. Built by the famous Skinner Organ Company of Boston in 1923, and fully installed later that year with the special designaiton "Opus 388", it's ranked among one of the finest of its kind in New England. "Opus 388" has been a central element of our liturgy at Trinity since then. For eighty years, its 30 registers, 37 ranks, and 2,3000 pipes have been calling parishioners to worship and sing praises to our Creator.
