Trinity Church has always provided the rector (in lieu of a rector, an almoner is appointed) with a discretionary fund to use to provide assistance to our neighbors in dire financial need. This fund is supported in part by semi-annual donations from The Women of Trinity and in part by portions of the Sunday offerings. Currently, the loose money collected on the first Sunday of each month is used to supply the discretionary fund. The discretionary fund offers assistance for emergency need: housing, heating fuel (in the winter only), electricity, medical assistance, and when the need is proven to be the last option, transportation assistance. In 2014, nearly 70 households were provided financial assistance through Trinity Church. But more than just financial assistance, every one of those individuals and families experienced a relief from the fear that dogs financial oppression. That could not be made possible without the generosity of Trinity parishioners.
