About Music Performances at Trinity Church

Trinity Church in Rutland has had a rich "on again off again" relationship with music performances over the years. In fact, before Trinity's worship services were enriched with choral music, organist Charles Coan organized a twenty member boys choir who performed at the Festival of the Choir Guild of Vermont in Burlington.

During the '50s and '60s, Trinity's Couples Club put on several musical performances. It was also during this period that Trinity's music department collaborated with that of Grace Congregational Church to create the annual performances of Handel's Messiah. For a few year, these performances alternated between Trinity and Grace until the choirs and audiences outgrew Trinity's space.

It wasn't until 1983 that Trinity Presents was inaugurated. That first period of Trinity Presents concerts evolved out of an informal noontime concert series that showcased local talent. Trinity Presents concerts were more formalized events and featured trained and professional musicians. This period of Trinity Presents came to an end around the turn of the millenium.

It is thanks to the efforts of current choir members and Vestry support that Trinity Presents has been revived! The first current-day concert was held on September 29, 2024 and featured the very talented Taconic String Quartet. Check  this page frequently for news of  upcoming Trinity Presents concerts.
